Pesticides on our fresh produce and vegetables....

Here is a current list of produce and vegetables with rankings for what is safe to buy at the supermarket and what you should be buying organic  food list

It is a comprehensive list showing you what produce and/or vegetables are safe to eat.  If you are concerned about pesticides/chemicals in your food source,  this is an important list to save/print and post in your kitchen. I would make another copy to take with to the grocery store.

FYI-  I continue to feel better.... still using the goat kefir daily, along with apple cider vinegar/molasses, liquid chlorophyll, raw honey and large quantities of water. Exercising daily.... is key!  I am doing at least 1 hour of walking on the treadmill along with stretching and floor exercises. Lifting light weights-3lbs and also 8 lbs.

I don't always feel like exercising when I first get going in the morning... but, I make myself do it and the benefits are key to feeling better throughout the day!  I hope you are getting your work outs in too!

My recipe for Italian beef sandwiches...

Growing up in Chicago, Illinois, Italian roast beef on a nice hard roll with french fries was pretty much a staple in my life.

Here is my cleaned up version; I hope you like it as much as I do....

Using Boars head lunchmeat and cheeses (sticking to the clean, green and lean principles)

I use Boars head Italian beef, purchased at my Fry's deli counter. Sauteeing organic chopped red and green peppers and then adding organic beef  broth to the mixture. Let the peppers cook in the broth until peppers get soft, then add Italian beef(I chopped the beef into smaller bite size pieces) to the broth and peppers. Cook until all is hot and bubbly. Serve on a nice whole grain roll or bread. Serve it open face on one slice of bread with some sweet potato fries or a piece of organic corn on the cobb.  I have to say it is yummy!!!!

Ice tea that is good for you rooibos tea. I discovered this delicious healthy antioxidant caffeine free tea, when I was looking for a source to buy bulk  herbs... it is delicious and makes a great hot or iced tea. Iced, I add a small amount of raw agave and some fresh squeezed lemon. It is my favorite iced tea.  Worth a try!

Feeling a little better...

My stomach seems to be feeling a little better in the last couple of days... I attribute this to the adding of the goat milk kefir and apple cider vinegar to my diet....

I can't deny that simple changes to diet like adding of organic apple cider vinegar, black strap molasses and kefir can make a big difference in how I feel.

I almost forgot to mention something that is really important... My ND has recently added at my request s-acetyl glutathione. I am taking 1 cap 2x per day. Started this one week ago... and already I am feeling a better sense of well being. If your not familiar with glutathione, it is a powerful anti-oxidant and has been proven to be beneficial to patients with Parkinson's Disease.

Changing my routine up.... I am splitting my morning shake up into 2 doses... I drink first half when I get up and the other half about 2 hours later. This seems to allow me have the energy I need to do my morning exercise routine and to take my doses of herbs and aminos per the www.neuroassist.com protocol that I use in conjunction with my Naturopathic Physician, Dr. Dana Keaton of Phoenix, AZ.
Morning shake today consisted of

1 T. noni powder
1 T. wheat grass powder
1 T. flax meal
1 T. acai powder
1 T. beet root powder
1 T. nutritional yeast
1 T. lecithin granules
1 teas cayenne powder
1 teas turmeric powder
1/2 frozen banana
3/4 C goat milk kefir
5 ice cubes
1/2 C water
1 Scoop Spirutein protein powder

Tasted great!

Hidden reasons why I don't feel good, maybe ... this may apply to you too!

I have gone through my life with a myriad of health problems. Maybe, one of the main reasons is hidden allergies to foods that I have been eating my entire life.

You may be interested in this too!  Our food supply can be a source of major problems for some of us! If you have never watched the video Food Inc. You may want to do so now.... you may be shocked, like I was to find out where and what happens to our food, before we buy it at the grocery store.

I recently added Goat milk kefir to my diet... I was introduced to Goat milk kefir at the local Farmer's Market yesterday. I had heard of kefir, but never really knew what it was or how it could be beneficial  to my diet.  I tasted a bit of the pineapple/mango kefir  and it was great ! After doing a bit of research on the internet, decided that this is a good addition to my diet. Specially to my digestive system... maybe I will see some good results and start to feel better.  I hope so !

Changing it up again.....feeling awful!

I have been feeling awful!!!

Why?  I don't know for sure... maybe it's just that just raw food doesn't work for my digestive system in combination with all the herbs and amino's that I am taking for PD...

Re-reading Dr. Crinnion's book Clean, Green and Lean.  I think this may be the way for me to go right now.  Emphasizing eating Clean Foods... no pesticides, chemicals or allergens.

This is my constantly changing journey....  My goal "function and feel better" living with Parkinson's.

I have been nauseous, vomitting and having lots of bloating.... The amino acids and mucuna pruriens are hard enough on my body.  I cannot continue this protocol with a raw diet.... it's just is not working.

I was so frustrated that on Friday afternoon, I completely blew it, ate a bunch of junk including cheese pizza and chocolate... paid for this on Saturday.  Really bloated and sick!

Back to square one..... even though I feel like giving up....  My spirit will not let me.....

Starting over !!!

I made some Quinoa this morning!!!  Really good tasting...

Started by sauteeing 2 shallots, 1 garlic clove in Olive Oil

when onion was translucent, I added 24 oz. of organic vegetable broth,
when this started to boil I added

1 C Quinoa  (Clean, and it's alkaline)

when rolling boil, I reduced heat and cooked for about 20 minutes, or until all liquid was absorbed, I then added about

1 C mixed organic vegetables

and cooked for another 5 minutes....

The result was awesome... the taste incredible.... I love it!

Now this I could eat on a regular basis! I will start here and see where I end up .... I have got to start to feel better.......

It's not just about the food...

Some other things to consider, if you are on a journey to feeling better. Again, these are topics I explored on my website http://www.newfacesofparkinsons.com/ that I published back in 2005.

Exercise has been proven to be very effective in helping people with Parkinson's Disease.

Environmental exposures may have had an impact on you.

Dr. Walter Crinnion's Book- Clean, Green and Lean is a good starting place to learn more about Food and Environmental exposures and how they can affect you.

I personally have no history of Parkinson's Disease in my family... after my own research. I believe that it is a very real possibility that my illness, may be related to many environmental exposures throughout my life.

I know that this is a very controversial subject. We are all entitled to our opinions, and again, this is my opinion! I know their is much disagreement on this topic.

The food, air and water are not what they used to be. We hear stories regularly on these topics!
Just read the headlines... today

Heavy metal exposure from a variety of sources; mercury fillings, vaccinations, contaminated water and of course, air pollution; could all have an effect on your health.

I had a sensitivity to my first vaccinations When I was a child... it made my arm swell and I had a high fever, right after my exposure to the vaccination. Now they say, it could have been from mercury that was in the vaccination.... all speculation. I am not sure!  It just makes me weary and definitely more curious to learn about toxic reactions from exposure to these things.

Still not feeling well and after a Consultation with my Naturopathic Physician yesterday. I am adding some new things to my regime.

Liquid Chlorophyll

Cilantro extract

This is my own personal journey. I am following my own path. Following my gut instincts....

I started the day with 16 oz water:
adding 1 teas. liquid chlorophyll and 5 drops of cilantro extract

Exercise:  30 minutes on the treadmill-
carried 2-3 lb weights (using weights to exercise my arms while walking)
and had ankle weights on 1-1/2 lbs ea.

mini-trampoline
10 minutes jumping

floor exercise-
sit ups, leg lifts, bicycling, stretching

Breakfast Smoothie

rice milk (organic)
spirutein powder
lecithin granules
nutritional yeast
noni powder
wheatgrass powder
flax seed meal
1/2 frozen banana
1/4 c fresh blueberries (organic)
6 ice cubes
water (bottled arrowhead)

It all seems to be about finding the right balance for my body... it is not an easy path!

All I can say is this, " whenever I feel lost or ready to give up". A "higher power" seems to know what I need...  Listening is key!
